Message from Mr I Housley, Head of Year 10

A huge welcome to you parents and carers, my name is Ian Housley and I am Head of Year 10 at KSA. I would like to take this opportunity to say how much I am looking forward to working with Year 10 and also with each and everyone of you over the next 2 years.

The Year 10 progress evening will give you the opportunity to discuss progress from last academic year where students began the foundation work of their GCSE or BTEC courses. More importantly however, you will also be able to discuss with subject staff what students need to do in order to meet or exceed their target grades.

This is a key evening which we would encourage all parents and carers of Year 10 to attend virtually. Together in partnership we can support and guide our students to give them the best chance of academic success.

We look forward to seeing you next Wednesday.

GCSE results day is a huge moment in every student's educational journey. For this cohort they have experienced so many challenges from the pandemic, to home schooling and virtual lessons. This year's adjustment to the grade boundaries, the final challenge for them.

Despite these difficulties, this morning there was a real sense of pride and achievement. Our students have secured some remarkable results and now progress onto the next exciting stage in their lives.

The grade on that exam slip marks the end of this chapter, but immediately opens a new one. That means opportunities in whichever direction you take. For those of you returning, we can't wait to welcome you back. If your choices take you in a different direction, we wish you every success for the future.

Ultimately we are so proud of all you. Thank you for all your hard work and for the positive impact you have had on our school.

GCSE Examination Results, Thursday 24 August 2023

GCSE and Level 1/2 vocational results will be distributed to students on Thursday 24 August 2023 in the school Assembly Hall.  Please use the gate adjacent to the Assembly Hall.

All students can collect their results from 8:30AM.  This includes any Post 16 students collecting GCSE Maths resit results and any Year 10 students who sat a GCSE Language exam a year early.

Mr Abbott and Mrs Pierce will be available for appointments to discuss Post 16 places.  Students will need to sit and wait their turn for these.  Parents/carers are more than welcome to join these meetings.

If a student has achieved their conditional offer (as per the letter they were issued) they are now on their chosen Post 16 courses.  If a student has not met their conditional offer, they may still be given a place on a course if the Head of Faculty agrees to this (for example, if the student was very close to the grade boundary or there were other extenuating circumstances) however students should discuss this with the members of staff.

The sixth form is still accepting applications from current and external students.  They should apply for the application form on the website here (Click on the purple "Click here to apply" box to make an online application)

Mrs Leach will post out any results to students who provided her with a stamped address envelope before the end of the summer term. If you did not do this, somebody else can collect results on your behalf but the student will need to provide signed written authorisation for this and the person picking up the result will need to bring proof of their ID with them.

Parents are very welcome to attend Results Day with their child but to avoid any embarrassment, please remember, examination results belong to the student and will only be shared with parent/carers with the student's permission.

Mr Abbott
Assistant Principal and Head of Post 16

Our Post 16 students have again done themselves and the school proud. They are a year group that has experienced a less than smooth route through their educational journey. This year’s return to pre-pandemic grading proving another challenge for them. Despite all the challenges they have stepped up and achieve some truly outstanding results.

We are excited to see them move forward now with their next steps, and we wish them the best of luck. I would personally like to thank all the students for their contribution to KSCS, and on their behalf, thank all the staff that have supported and guided them to this point in their education.

I would also like to congratulate every individual on their achievements and recognise all the hard work that has gone into every single grade.

We would also like to highlight some of the highest grades achieved this year:

  • Faye Irvine A*AA
  • Isabella Campbell A*AA
  • Nathan Hall AAA
  • Luca Scialla-Cooper AAB
  • Abi Guerin D*D*B
