We work to reduce the negative impact of young people’s caring roles, we often do this via 1-1 support which is time limited (4-6 sessions) and will focus on what the young person feels they need at the time. This could be (but is not limited to): understanding their cared for persons condition, reducing isolation, signposting to relevant services and supporting them to engage with those, advocating on their behalf with professionals they or their family are supported by. When making a referral it’s helpful if you can indicate what outcomes and expectations the young person has for their referral. We do not offer respite activities for young carers, but we do support schools to set up this provision – if you need support with this, please reach out.
