Local colleges, sixth forms, apprenticeships providers and employers hosted a careers fair to provide the students with the opportunity to focus on their future.  Student ambassadors then gave a valuable insight into university life from a students prospective.  The event finished with an inspiring talk by Cambridgeshire Constabulary Superintendent James Sutherland,  who spoke of his journey and then answered lots of thought provoking questions from the students.

Every week I will be sending out resources students can start using at home called the final countdown, this may seem premature but their are only 61 teaching days to the first maths exam on 24 May and revising gradually is much more effective. Using the countdown alongside Hegarty and other revision resources will really make the difference to closing the gap on areas students still have issues with, please find attached week 5 of the extra questions students can do at home with the support of parents as mark schemes and examiners reports are also attached. I will continue to attach five topics that regularly appear on examinations, there is also a Personal Learning Checklist so students can track what they feel they have mastered and what they need more help on. This can be used alongside Hegarty maths which has video tutorials to help students understand topics.

Revision guides are also available in school at cost price saving you more than 50% on the RRP. There are 3 books at £2.50 each and an answer book for £1. Please see your class teacher or Mr Hussain or Mr Donnelly if you wish to purchase these. Alternatively you could pay on the schools parent pay system.

The final PPE exams will be straight after half term, so only 5 teaching days away!

This important event will be held in the Assembly Hall and is directed at parents/carers of Year 9 students. Students are encouraged to attend. Information about the Key Stage 4 curriculum and process will be shared and discussed. Various members of staff as well as the school’s Leadership Team will be present to answer questions on the wide range of courses on offer at Key Stage 4.

 

The aim of the Pathways process is to ensure that students are enrolled onto the most appropriate courses in the next stage of their school career and is vital in securing their academic success.

However I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Perfroming Arts staff (Mr.Fisk, Ms. Barben, Miss.Clissett, Mrs. Purdy, Miss.Walker, Mrs. Eldred, Mr. Hession and Mrs. Lackenby) for all their hard work helping to put the show together as they all worked incredibly hard in their respective areas to make this show a success.

But above all a huge thank you and well done to the students in the cast and tech crew for all their hard work in learning all the lines, songs and choreography to truly make this a show to remember.

Thank you to everyone involved and to those that supported in the audience.

The Walk is the Charity’s biggest event and raises significant amounts of money and is supported by a number of schools and organisations. Last year alone it raised £20,000. This is the first time the event has been offered at KSCS and we are very keen to have a really positive impact on the school, the students and the local community.

The cost is £85, this covers all costs apart from a very limited amount of spending money. The transport, food and accommodation are all covered and organised through the school. To make things easier, the balance of £85 can be paid in instalments, as long as the £85 balance is cleared by the end of February (to guarantee a place, please complete the permission slip and make an initial/full payment). There has been significant interest and there are limited numbers.

There are letters available and I will be visiting assemblies to remind students. There will also be an evening meeting for parents and students to explain further details nearer the event.
