Following Government instruction, KSCS will be closed from Monday, except for children of key workers and vulnerable children

It is with regret that following the Government’s announcement this evening, we will shut the school on Friday afternoon at 3.15pm.  We will remain closed until further notice except for children of key workers and vulnerable children, as part of the country’s ongoing response to coronavirus.

We await the definition of both the term “key workers” and “vulnerable students”, which we expect to be clarified by the Government tomorrow, or Friday at the latest.
In these uncertain times, we also wish to ensure that we will aim to offer as much support to children, families and staff as we can.

    • We have packs of work ready to go out that complement the online learning already set – we will be open over the next two school days and beyond to distribute this out now for Years 8-10 on Thursday and Years 11-Post16 on Friday.

    • Please come to reception to collect these either as a parent or a student from 9.30 – 2pm from Thursday to Friday.

    • Please note we are in the process of not overloading students with academic learning, but wellbeing, fitness and habit strategies.  A student and parent guide is in the process of being developed – please see website for further information.

    • We extend the invitation of families that would be in receipt of FSM to take up the offer of a school meal on Thursday and Friday during 12 -1pm. We would ask that you phone in using the school main line  01733 765950 and press 3 to confirm your child will be taking up the meal.

    • We will be publishing a FAQ over the next 24 hours on questions raised by families that we have answers to.

We hope you understand that we are facing very turbulent and uncertain times, but will make our best efforts to keep you informed of a situation outside our control.
I urge you to follow Government health advice support each another to ensure we can work through this challenge.

Best wishes

Mr B Erwin

The Well Being team here are always keen to inform our students of services that students can access inside and out side of school and today we were delighted to welcome Taylor from Kooth into school.  She delivered an assembly to Year 11 talking about the services that Kooth has to offer young people.

This morning, Year 7 students experimented with creating their own flavour biscuits – the more weird and wonderful the better! Their efforts and final products were commendable and well received by taste testers in the faculty. Well done Year 7.

Dear all

I wish to make it very clear to staff, students and parents/carers, there is no place for masks to be worn inside and during the school day.  Whilst I cannot control what students may choose to do out of the school hours, they will not be allowed to bring and wear masks inside school for the following reasons:

  1. The threat of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) is currently not reported in our community of Peterborough.
  2. Masks hide facial features, inhibiting day-to-day communication with a wide range of people and will cause significant problems.
  3. They actually heighten the threat of infection without any substance of helping and rationalising the situation.
  4. Face masks play a very important role in places like hospitals, but there is very little evidence of widespread benefit for members of the public.

Until the Government alter their guidance, I wish to re-iterate that face masks are not allowed in to Ken Stimpson Community School.  The school will continue to operate as normal and apply risk assessments to enable the risk to continue to be low.

The school will not authorise an absence because you are concerned about the COVID-19 Coronavirus.  However, following the guidance below, if a family member is presenting any of the symptoms displayed, you should seek medical advice (111 NHS Coronavirus helpline) and then contact the school to discuss the matter before absenting your child from school.

Finally, I wish to draw to your attention three helpful information sources:

  2. Click here to read how to reduce the risk around COVID-19 (Coronavirus)
  3. Click here to view specified countries and areas with implications for returning travelled or visitors arriving in the UK.
