Message from the Principal
As the Coronavirus (also called COVID-19) is being reported widely in the media, we wanted to make sure that you have a full picture of the Coronavirus and know exactly what action you may need to take.

We are aware of a minority of schools that have taken the action to close and the need to consider what to do when there are other children in the family that attend KSCS. With this in mind, we have provided a link below which is updated by the government frequently:
This link identifies the symptoms, the risks and ways to reduce the risks through good routines. It also highlights key areas where the virus is currently prevalent.
As a school we will remain vigilant, but remain open as normal.  The key message is that parents should ensure attendance to school as normal.  The school will not authorise an absence because you are concerned about the Coronavirus.  However, following the guidance above if a family member is presenting any of the symptoms displayed, you should seek medical advice before absenting your child from school.
If we need to change our position then we will communicate this without delay.

Best wishes

Well-being Tip of the Week

Year 7 and 8 netball fixture against Jack Hunt School
On Tuesday, year 7 and 8 students had their second netball fixture of the season, away to Jack Hunt.

When we arrived it was highlighted that we were playing outside, which meant a good warm up was needed in the cold. The girls worked well in their teams to make sure this happened, showing strong communication and teamwork throughout.

Both games set off to a good start, with the year 8's fighting to keep possession and defence working hard to put pressure on the opposition's shooters. Despite their best efforts and resilience, it was not meant to be for the girls this time. Year 7 had a strong game, managing to keep possession of the ball for the majority of it. However, silly errors and cold fingers meant the shots just weren't going in. After a half time team talk and position shuffle, they managed to pull it out of the bag and secure the win. Both teams played really well and both Miss Marley and Miss Sothmann are very proud of them.

Year 7:
Opposition player of the match: Evie Matthews
Miss Marley's player of the match: Megan Richardson

Year 8:
Opposition player of the match: Paige Pitney-Baxter
Miss Sothmann's player of the match: Daisy Baseford

Former Student Performance
Miss Eldred and former Dance student Holly Honeyman are performing in 'The Addams Family musical' that will be opening in two weeks time (12 March).

This show has an amazing cast and Greg Arrowsmith has worked with the production team as their Musical Director.  The set design is shaping up to create a wonderfully horrific aesthetic, suitable for The Addams Family.

Here is the link for the show: https://www.stamfordcornexchange.co.uk/the-addams-family.html

If any student would like to get involved in Performing Arts out of school then MK Arts Production is a great company to be part of and join!

Dangerous Vapes
Following a recent article in the local news, I wish to alert parents/carers that there are growing concerns regarding the availability and potential dangers of “Spice” and cannabis concentrates.

I have enclosed an information leaflet from the Police, raising awareness of this illegal product and hope it may draw attention to the dangers they face for those that may come into contact with this product.

I wish to remind students and parents/carers, that the school will take a serious stance on substance abuse and anything else that may bring into harm others by being brought onto the school site. We continue to be vigilant and to ensure we are a safe and secure learning environment. We will deploy proactive measures alongside education to make sure our students make the correct choices.  We respectfully ask that you consider how best to inform your child of this potential risk.

Sports fans, Sports Relief week is fast approaching!
At school we will be hosting a number of events throughout the week, including non-uniform days and sports themed challenges.

Each year group will have their own non-uniform day.  This will correspond with their assembly day.

Monday 9 March – Year 11

Tuesday 10 March – Year 10

Wednesday 11 March – Year 7 & P16

Thursday  12 March – Year 9

Friday 13 March – Year 8

We will be asking for a £1 donation from students on the gate as they pass through on their respective non-uniform days.

We must remind students that their non-uniform attire must be appropriate for school; i.e. no cropped tops, no rude/offensive images/slogans, no clothing that is revealing.
