A message for all GCSE, AS and A level students this summer

Dear Students,
CC: Parents and Carers

I know that you have been waiting for a decision regarding how your grades will be determined this summer. School’s across the country have today received technical guidance. I am sharing with you the letter written by the examination regulator (OFQUAL).

The letter outlines clear messages regarding the process of determining your grades. One key message is that you will not be able to ask your teachers for the grade that they are submitting to the examination boards. Please trust that the school will not disadvantage any student. It will be a process set out by the regulator (OFQUAL) that we follow. The process will start no earlier than May 29 2020 and we will have a two week window to complete it.

Students who feel that their grades from the summer do not reflect their ability will have the opportunity to take their exams in the autumn term series or in summer 2021. If you choose to do this, both grades will stand. The appeal process is being developed and when we have further information, this will be shared with you.

In the meantime, if you have any questions or queries than please use the following email address exams2020 [at] kscs.org.uk

Yours sincerely

B.Erwin

The end of Spring term reports will be distributed by the end of this week as normal for students in Year 7-10.

Year 8 students will find this particularly useful in the run-up to their pathways process where they will be choosing the subjects they wish to study at Key Stage 4 - Mr Swift will distribute further information on Pathways in the next few days.

The reports will be distributed in the usual electronic method.
