Message from the Principal
The importance of PPEs
Pre Public Examinations are now underway for Post16 students. We stopped naming these examinations 'mocks' or 'internals' as we want every student to understand they serve as a benchmark on what they have secured and what they have not yet mastered.

To prepare effectively for these PPEs a growth mind-set philosophy is vital. A true reflection of your child's ability provides a fantastic snapshot of what they can do and what they genuinely need. This will enable us to provide support for them in what they should master in the 100 days left until the public examinations start in May. Effective revision techniques have been shared with students in assemblies this week. I have attached the timetable for the forthcoming Year 11 PPE's for your interest. To view it Click Here.

I hope you found the Post16 Opportunities Evening both useful and balanced in terms of impartial advice and guidance. The inclusion of other providers at the evening is our pledge to ensure your son/daughter receives the best advice. Thank you to the students and staff who continued and to the Post16 leadership team for preparing a really informative and high quality evening.

Parents Surgery 30 November

There will be a Parents Surgery held in the Conference Room on Wednesday 30 November from 6 - 7pm. Please note that this meeting is a surgery format, which allows parents/carers to drop in to discuss any concerns with a member of the leadership team and myself.

Car Park - a polite reminder

Finally, I have received a number of telephone calls from frustrated members of the public trying to leave the car park just before the end of school, every day. I understand that parking in the car park is difficult at times. However, I would respectfully ask that you do not block others in their space and are considerate not to use the blue badge reserved parking spaces. Thank you for your cooperation.

Meet Logan Marriott - Centre Anglia District Cadet of the Year for St John Ambulance.

We wish to congratulate Logan Marriott who has won Centre Anglia District Cadet of the Year for St John Ambulance, on Sunday 20 November 2017.

The day was from 9.30 until 16.30 and was split into morning and afternoon sessions in which the cadets participated in a number of different stations which were scored. Stations included uniform checks, interviews and first aid assessments. The participants with the highest aggregate scores in each district were awarded the title of District Cadets of the Year (North, Central, South and West Anglia respectively).

The winners of the District Cadet of the Year will go on to compete in the National Cadet of the Year competition. The cadet receiving the highest aggregate points in the national competition will become the East of England Regional Cadet of the Year 2017.

If you wish to share any other awards that your son/ daughter may achieve then I would be very happy and proud to promote their achievements within this newsletter.

Best wishes

Young Enterprise
Last week, students from the Languages department collaborated with the Young Enterprise team in aid of International Education Week. Students organised a series of break time events in the conference room to celebrate the culture and languages of France, Germany, Italy and China.
Food

A range of delicious snacks and treats was on offer, including French crêpes, Italian pizza and gelato and authentic Chinese snacks provided by our Chinese Language Assistant, Marina.  GCSE Languages students were on hand to encourage students to ask for their snacks in the target language.  From a personal perspective it was fantastic to see a range of students, most of whom I have taught at some point during their time at the school, working together to promote the importance of languages skills and an international outlook.  A massive "bravo" and "merci" to all of the staff and students involved!

Operation Chistmas Child
May I thank all of the Lower School Tutor Groups (Year 7/8), tutors and the pastoral team for taking up the challenge of aiming for at least one Christmas box for the Samaritans "Operation Christmas Child" appeal. Mr Reed and six students delivered over 30 boxes to Peterborough Cathedral on Friday 18 November. Thank-you to you all for being generous.

Post 16 Opportunities Evening
It was very pleasing to welcome so many Year 11 students and parents to the Post 16 Opportunities Evening last Wednesday.

I would welcome any feedback for the evening and if there is any further information or advice needed to help students make informed

choices about their options. We have had several students say there are some clashes for their preferred options and consequently I have revised the blocking. This is in draft form to see if it they are viable changes. Therefore I would urge students to let

me know if the new blocking creates a clash for them. I will make the decision on the model of best fit. This will mean that the on line application form will be delayed until Monday December 5. Any further enquiries please do ask at s.walls@kscs.org.uk

Children In Need
On Friday 18 November Ken Stimpson students and staff collaboratively organised and ran stalls and a range of different events that raised money for the UK charity Children In Need.

Children in need

I am pleased to announce that we raised an impressive £1,454.87

The lead up to the event and the day itself was a privilege to organise and run and I believe the students once again showed how, with a little hard work and collaboration, we can do great things.

A change again in the statistics as Aspire take the lead this week. Three Houses have had a decrease in attendance. Let's keep those bugs at bay and keep coming to school.
